Once you get into the habit of blogging and you see that you have created a certain 'following', the next logical step may be to start creating podcasts. A podcast is a combination of two technologies, that have been merged together to create a completely new medium of distributing media: The PodCast.

A PodCast is a combination of a 'radioshow in electronic format', which is distributed using RSS feeds. Before podcasts came around, some people created spoken content about a subject and made their 'show' available for download. Most of the time, this now happens in MP3 format because of the size and quality. When RSS feeds came along, it was a only a small step to merge the delivery of audio files within an RSS feed. The first successful podcast was created by Adam Curry in the early 2000's.
